As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for analysing mechanical tenders and providing accurate cost estimates. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams. The Mechanical Estimator will play a crucial role in ensuring that project bids are competitive, realistic, and align with CJK’s objectives.
Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of mechanical work involved. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information for accurate cost estimation. Conduct site visits and collaborate with project managers to gather relevant information for accurate estimating.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical tenders, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs. Utilise cost estimating software and take-off tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process. Stay up to date on industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to adjust estimates accordingly.
Work closely with the bid team to prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.
Present and explain cost estimates to internal teams and management for review and approval.
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in projects and propose mitigation strategies. Work closely with the project management team to ensure a thorough understanding of project complexities.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
Solicit quotes and proposals from suppliers, subcontractors, and other relevant vendors.
Evaluate vendor/subcontractor bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bids, and relevant documentation. Provide regular reports and updates on project costs, risks, and opportunities.
Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, project management, and procurement, to ensure alignment of project goals and cost estimates.
Professional certification in cost estimation or related field.
Familiarity with building codes and regulations.
Experience with value engineering and cost optimisation techniques.
