Apprenticeships
CJK is one of the largest employers of apprentices in Ireland.
An apprenticeship can take you many places – start your own business, travel the world, change industry or simply stay with the company you are with. Whatever path you choose, you’ll receive a solid grounding and great experience in a CJK apprenticeship.
We are dedicated to helping our apprentices discover and develop their skills and talent. At CJK, you will be working with some of the best people in the industry, gaining the knowledge and experience to give your career a kickstart. Many of our apprentices stay on with us once they have graduated; we then help them advance their careers through our in-house Training Academy.
To give you an idea of the possibilities, virtually all of the management team at CJK started out as electrical apprentices. We also have former apprentices currently working in our commercial, engineering and management teams.
Every apprentice has a different story.
Here are a few of ours.
The apprenticeship programme
This phase comprises at least 12 weeks on-site training, introducing you to health & safety, tools & equipment and basic skills. A qualified tradesperson will support you in your studies.
Now it’s time for 22 weeks in an Educational Training Board Centre. Here you will immerse yourself in both theory and practical knowledge.
Once Phase 2 is completed, you will embark on a minimum of 24 weeks of on-site training. Here you have the opportunity to put the skills acquired from Phase 2 into action.
Now it’s back to an education college for a further 11 weeks of theory and practical knowledge.
After your second stint in college, it’s back to the workplace for a minimum of 24 weeks of on-site training. At this advanced stage, you will become a role model for the new apprentices.
This is the final off-the-job training period, a minimum of 11 weeks in an educational college.
Finally – the final phase. This phase comprises a minimum of 12 weeks where you begin putting into practice everything you have learnt and start to demonstrate your skills. During this time, you will be invited to interview for a role as a qualified electrician with CJK.
