CJK were the main contractor responsible for the full CSA & electrical design, build and installation of 18 new EV bus chargers, a new MV substation including a new 1.1MVA transformer with LV switch room, the construction of a new carpark and the network connections via new ducting on the public roads in conjunction with the ESB for our client, Bus Éireann.
Athlone’s town bus service has become Ireland’s first all-electric bus service. The service was officially launched by Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, in Athlone last Friday.
Our Project Director, Dave Flanagan, and our Business Unit Lead, Declan Behan, had the pleasure of meeting Eamon and Mayor of Athlone, Cllr. Vinny Mc Cormack.
The new fleet will reduce CO2 emissions by 400,000kg annually and will deliver a quieter, cleaner bus service for the town and passengers.
